An internet diary

For once, a link from someone other that Instapundit - I found this one from Alphecca. It's from an article about some proposed firearms legislation in the state of Tennessee. When I read it to DW, she giggled her head off.

Heh:

CRIMINAL LAW: Domestic assault perpetrators to pay victim’s permit fees. Requires perpetrators of domestic assault, stalking, or a violation of protective order cases, if convicted, to pay for handgun safety course or handgun carry permit for victim of offense.

I think this is a GREAT idea.

Stevendedalus, it's not like you can make them pay for it before it happens. And it's also not like someone can be assaulted etc only once.

Ideally, what I would like to see is a bare minimum of costs (or none at all) for basic handgun training and NO costs to acquire a firearm beyond the cost to buy (no "fees" or taxes to buy a firearm). What I'd REALLY like to see is a system like Vermont's, where the government gets out of the business of regulating firearms at all.

No, it doesn't. But actually hitting your target does!
