An internet diary

As should be obvious by perusing my archives, I would rather have President Bush win in November than Senator Kerry (or Nader, for that matter). So I am immensly cheered whenever Senator Kerry makes a verbal misstep or otherwise stumbles in public (witness his recent dissembling about the ownership of the family SUV in Montana, the kerfuffle surrounding his Vietnam service etc).

However, on the other hand, President Bush doesn't seem to be doing all that well himself. Admittedly, I'm spending time in either a fairly Red state, or a fairly Blue state; I haven't been in a "battleground" media market, so all I see is the standard media news spin (and all the blogs I can follow). But it seems that Bush is content to wait for Kerry to die the death of a thousand self-inflicted wounds. And all I can think of is the parable of the tortoise and the hare... Update: Fixed my spelling of tortoise. Boy am I embarassed!

i thought bush was the hare. he spent a huge amount of money versus kerry and got very little to show for it. plus that purple heart issue helped more than hurt kerry: his fitness reports all say he was an excellent leader, and the other side looks bad for making accusations about a war wound while bush was in no place to have a chance at getting one.

That was my point - I think President Bush (and/or his re-election campaign) needs to ponder the parable.

On the other hand, most of the media is really softballing Senator Kerry. Oddly enough, the Boston Globe (Kerry's hometown newspaper, and otherwise a paper leaning left) has been hammering him recently with regards to the after-action-report released by Kerry; they have a source who says the boat in question was NOT under Kerry's command at the time.

But I think Bush needs to keep his eye on the ball here.
