If you haven't heard of Rain-X, it's a product that you can apply to automotive glass that significantly increases the point at which water beads up on the glass and flows off. You can get in several different forms and ways to apply it to glass (I get it as my windshield wiper fluid). the end result of it is that I have to run my wipers a lot less often in the rain - as the incoming rains beads up immediately, and slides off, making for a much less obscured view.

One of the niftiest things about it is that above a certain speed on the highway, due to airflow, the raindrops actually slide UP my windshield. Its a weird, but nifty, effect.

In other news, I upgraded my desktop machine to 64-bit POWER. Put SP2 on it; and a bunch of programs stopped working... Fresh install (I had formatted my C drive as part of the install anyway), so it wasn't some odd old program that hadn't completely uninstalled. Poked around a bit, and it turned out that it was the brand-spenking new security feature of SP2 ona Sthlon64, the No Execute flag that's supposed to mitigate buffer overrun attacks. Several people, including our gracious host, had compiled their programs without setting the Execute flag on executable code. So I had to turn that feature off. I understand that WindowBlinds (one of the prgrams in question) will be changed on the next update.

Still working as a phone support rep, a job I once said I wouldn't do for any amount of money. Two things changed my mind. First, I'm being paid decently. Second, as a level 3 type, the level of troubles I deal with aren't particularly mundane. Third, and most important, I need the job... (yes, I said two above.)

And that's a wrap (mmmm, chicken ceasar wrpa. Pardon me while I go for lunch)
