End of an era?
Published on November 4, 2004 By IanTyger In Politics

I'm reading through my blogs, as I do of a morning before going to work, and I see on Citizen Smash's blog a link to a Reuters' story about the failing health and possible demise of Yasser Arafat - at various times Palestinian head of Government, strongman, and terrorist; in parallel and in series.

And I think to myself, "this is at least as much the end of an era as the fall of the Berlin Wall". I venture that there is nobody in Palestine who can take up the mantle of Yasser Arafat. As to what this means for Palestine, I don't know. But who could predict what would happen when the Berlin Wall went down?

Yeah and Bush's next four years and Edwards breast cancer (tragic I know but still) are getting more attention then this. No one is covering this at least not in as much detail as it should be. Well I dont think we have much to worry about, he wont die until late december (yes I know horrible joke but wouldnt it be horribly iroinic if it was true.)

He's already dead, and has been for a couple of hours. they are keeping him alive on life support for 72 hours so they can figure out how to handle the Palestinian people when they tell them.

Rats I guess Jewish people will have to make up a new holiday for this.... owwwwwwww stop hitting me.

With Sharon's surprisingly conciliatory approach lately, I hope the Palestinians can get a leader who isn't so much steeped in terrorism -- perhaps Arafat's death will be the beginning of the end for the current intifada.

Well, the israelis have been playing whack-a-mole with the militant would-be leaders. That might have an effect too

Yea. I mean, you don't have to be sad, but to celebrate? I don't know. All life is sacred in my book. I think it's twisted, but I could be in the minority.

Yeah, but no maybe those damn terrorists will hit Israel less. Hamas' top leadership is dead, Arafat is dying. Anyway Hundreds of people clebrate the deaths of people like Hitler, and someone like Bin Laden.

Arafat, and this is confirmed, is brain dead now, only a matter of time now...

Will I celebrate his passing? No

Will I be sadden by his passing? No

Will I do a seance to contact Arafat after he is dead? ummmm, maybe

Hey, it could be worse, Arafat could be dead and put unto a meathook!! (Mussolini)

Grim Reaper Plinko!!
