I'm #6!!!
Published on March 12, 2005 By IanTyger In Blogging
The top 10 blog sites link over in the nave bar shows me at #6, behind skinning the frog, and in front of Life as an Air Force Wife. And I have 2 posts in the last 2 months! Is that right? Or has a databse glitched?

I know I got a couple of highly-ranked posts, but still...

Also, another thing I've noticed - my Top Articles list on the right is much different for me when I'm logged in than if I'm not. If I'm not, it draws off the articles on my front page, but if I am, it shows the all-time top-scoring articles on my blog, inclduing from my archives. None of which are very new.

Incidentally, of my all-time top posts, the top two are political. The first one is a rant on why I was going to vote for Bush, the second is a rant on gun-control, the third a review of K9 spamfilter, the fourth a linkfest on various spamfilters and adblockers, and the fifth is a link to a nerd test.

How bizzarre

There has been an intermittent bug with the top blogs, the other day we had someone with one article in fourth place. While it is possible that this bug is affecting you as well, in my opinion it doesn't look to be the same one. But you'd have to get ahold of one of the admin types to get that confirmed. Hopefully it will all make sense when they get their database upgrade all straightened out. Until then, just enjoy your place on the sidebar

Hey, I just thought it was funny. I am enjoying my day in the sun.

One thing I founc interesting - I had an article a while back Featured (it was about Mr. den Beste's retirement) and despite picking up a crapload of pageviews and points, it didn't crack my top 5.

I don't think this is the same bug either but the top articles list has been hinky along with many other points-related wierdness on JU lately. I emailed Brad about one that is so dirty and exploitable that I didn't dare point it out publicly!

That one has always been like that. The version when you are logged in is the accurate one.

I always meant to ask them about that, but I've only noticed it when I'm accessing my blog at the library, and it always sliped my mind before I got home.

Ooooo, I wanna know! I wanna know!

I'm now at #7. I wonder if the freshness of posts has a bearing on ranking?
