This started out as a comment on Citizen Smash's blog; his wife was asking for advice on picking out a new verison phone. The advice is based on that company's offerings Step 1 of cell phone purchasing; figure out how much you want to pay, what you need to do with it, what you want to do with it, what would be nice to have; in that order. Verizon is a CDMA carrier - the main thing this means is that none of their phones will work in europe or most other countries AT ALL. (they'll work i...

I guess I haven't been inspired to blog recently. This didn't start out as a life-blog, rather, as a political safety valve. But with Bush's victory, I'm not getting nearly as inspired to post; I can rant in comments on other people's blogs (and I don't even do that much any more). Also, I haven't had as much time. You scored as Millennium Falcon (Star Wars) . The world around you is at war. Fortunately you know how to handle that with the greatest of ease. You are one of the best at what you do and no one needs to tell you that. Now if only the droids could be quiet for five seconds. Millennium Falcon (Star Wars) 94% Nebuchadnezzar (The Matrix) 88% Deep Space Nine (Star Trek) 81% Galactica (Battlestar: Galactica) ...

Via Argghhh! The Home Of Two Of Jonah's Military Guys.. comes this test.   You Passed 8th Grade Math Congratulations, you got 10/10 correct! Could You Pass 8th Grade Math?   I'll admit that I used some l33t SAT skilz on a couple of questions (IE, I couldn't definitively come up with the right answer - so if it hadn't been multiple choice I would hav e had difficulties).

I went into the kitchen just a short time ago and saw that the clock on the stove was flashing 2:58... a sure indication that we had lost power about 3 hrs ago. Now I have been awake for almost an hour and a half; and this was the first time I realized it... There's damn few things in this house that either don't have onboard power, or aren't UPS'd. (One of these, admittedly, is the cable modem and one of the network switches - so if I had had a big download going I would have realized this. ...
