“ only looks 'erratic and incoherent' from the outside. [Obama’s] throwing every piece of the progressive/socialist pasta at the wall, and demanding that it stick.”

Emphasis mine – to point out what really makes this quote. Not just that he’s trying everything in his playbook; but he’s insisting that it work, that we make it work, and that opposition is unthinkable.

(Found here – and the rest of Ann Althouse’s post is worth the read as well)

Bruce Schneier is a reasonably level-headed individual when it comes to most security-related issues. But, apparently, gunz r scawwy. Even in the hands of Boston’s PD (notorious for overreacting) they’re just another semiautomatic rifle. Whether the beat cops need a rifle is a question worth asking, but Schneier just panics that they’re getting “automatic weapons”.

In the end, the sheer size of this country, and the differences within it, may defeat the attempts of the current US government to make the US over. It’s going to falter on two facts: individuals do not always and everywhere behave as members of the classes to which they belong, and the US is fractally diverse.

On the first fact: I am relatively conservative, both financially, legally, and socially. I fit many of the stereotypes of the right-wing republican voter (this has led to some heate...

The question is: “Do I have a right to defend myself?” The answer must be Yes or No.

Which File Extension are You?Which is highly appropriate for someone in tech support, I think. (More appropriate would be .hlp or .chm, but I don't know if those are options).

Anyone out there got advice on a place to host some images to link to from here? I don't want to use personal webspace from my ISP for a variety of reasons.

Requirements. Must be free. Must not sell my contact info or spam me (I don't care all that much about ads on the host itself.) Doesn't have to have a large amount of space.

The top 10 blog sites link over in the nave bar shows me at #6, behind skinning the frog, and in front of Life as an Air Force Wife. And I have 2 posts in the last 2 months! Is that right? Or has a databse glitched?

I know I got a couple of highly-ranked posts, but still...

Also, another thing I've noticed - my Top Articles list on the right is much different for me when I'm logged in than if I'm not. If I'm not, it draws off the articles on my front page, but if I am, it shows the all-tim...

I haven't been blogging much recently. There's a couple of reasons for that, but the main one is that I haven't been insriped to. With that in mind, I decided to do a little post on what I don't, won't, or haven't blogged on in the past year:

Firstly, my blogiversary. Feb 20th 2004 was my first post, if I remember my logs aright. I just forgot it until recently.

Personal things I haven't blogged about include myself, my family, and my firends. The main reason for this is that this blog is ...

I haven't blogged for almost a month, and there's no good reason for it (other than me spending time on other things). There's been plenty of events that I would and should blog, from a close friend of mine having a baby, to the Iraqi elections. I just have been feeling a little ragged this month, and haven't carved out time to blog. I will try and get some more blogging done this month.

One thing that I think would get me to post some more is if I could log in and post from my pocket PC (see...

The latest outrage is Target's decision to no longer permit Salvation Army kettle-ringers on Target's property (this was a longstanding exemption to Target's blanket policy of not permitting solicitors on their properties at all). Myself, I'm of neutral opinio...
